The Importance Of Invasive Species In Texas

Improved Essays
Have you witnessed any of the six human activities at any places you have been or live? I have seen one of the six, it was invasive species. When I went to Texas when I was younger we would go there to hunt wild hogs.
They were an invasive species because they weren’t originally here, they were brought over when Spain explored South America. They invaded the land there and they moved North into America, and started destroying crop and land there. People in Texas pay people to come in and shoot them off of their land. The landscape had shaped the culture and the history of these people in their original homelands, and now they had to adapt to a new environment west of the Mississippi River. As the tribes entered their new lands, the one thing they wouldn’t do was move beyond the hills, even though it was the southeastern part of Territory that resembled their homelands in the southeast. They had lived further west, which was treeless, had little rain, and was completely foreign to their experience. White Tail Deer Wildlife plays a very important role in the history of our country, dating back hundreds of centuries to the first civilizations of Native Americans. White-Tail Deer (Odocoileus virginianus) played a significant part in how the Indians survived; deer supplied the Native Americans with meat (venison), clothing, tools, a source of trade between Europeans, and ceremonial items (Howe, 2011). This being said, if anything were to happen to the population of deer to decline the Indians way of life would be greatly hindered. Much like the Indians from centuries ago, the Indians from the 21st century still utilize the deer in the same way their ancestors did, along with many other Americans that inhabit the United States. The objective…

The expansion of the West, by European Americans, occurred between 1820-1850 creating four distinctive regions. Each distinctive region, Texas, Oregon, Utah, and California were created for a unique purpose (Schultz, n.d.). Both Texas and Oregon presented substantial financial incentives, which attracted the majority of the settlers. Moreover, of the four, the most well-liked was Texas. Texas was initially a Spanish colony that eventually united with the recently formed autonomous nation of Mexico.…

Before the 14th century, the Eastern and Western hemispheres of the Earth were separate entities, neither knowing the other existed. Communities adapted independently and developed their own customs, technology, and lifestyle. This all changed in 1492, when Christopher Columbus set sail across the Atlantic Ocean and ignited a revolutionary movement which would forever alter the world (Biology, Ecology, and the Discovery of the New World). As increasing populations of Europeans settled into the New World, especially in the New England region, they constructed the Columbian Exchange by bringing new animals, plants, and societal traditions which rapidly transformed the environment. Domesticated animals and livestock, a concept Native Americans…

Introduction Southwest Florida's ecosystem consists of warm temperate waters and a subtropical climate that attracts the majority of the generalist species. Generalist species are species that can adapt to a variety of locations without needing certain foods to eat or certain climates to survive in. Attracting generalist species that do not belong a part of Southwest Florida's ecosystem concludes in an unbalanced environmental system. My interest in this topic was the certitude that if we continue to surmise that this issue will not affect us, it will cease in an extremely negative way. It is crucial to inflate the effects invasive species have on our ecosystem to prevent any more harm to the environment.…
