The interview that was selected for this project was from a 60 minutes episode in which Pam Oliver interviewed Victor Cruz, CC Sabathia and the main interviewee the sports executive for Jay-Z ‘s Roc Nation Sports Shawn Costner, also known as Pecas, who is an avid sneaker collector. Pecas has over 1500 pairs of sneakers that consist of autographed, rare releases, customs, and multiple pairs of his favorite sneakers. In this interview Pam used multiple technics to make him feel comfortable and gather more in-depth responses. This interview with Pecas was information gathering because Pam’s purpose was to gather as much accurate information as possible from the responses of the interviewee to help inform the viewers. An example was of her reaction and follow-up statement based on the response of the amount of pairs of sneakers that Pecas has which showed she was actively listening. The majority of Pam’s questions consisted of highly open questions, with a few moderated closed questions. She would ask an open, closed, and then another open question that is a sequence called hourglass. Some of the questions were open-to-closed switch and double-barreled. She said a quick “Yes” or “Um” to get more information from Pecas. This nudging probe could be seen during Pecas response of when he exchanged 200 pairs of shoes to his for Cuban cigars. She used the nudging probe to get an in-depth response of what actually happened. Another probe that was used was the mirror probe, which is a summarized response asked in a question for the interviewer could get clarification. An example was when Pecas stated that he dresses from feet up, which surprised Pam. She restated the answer by asking “From the feet up?’ to get a reassurance. Pam used these different techniques when she interviewed Victor Cruz and CC Sabathia. Just as the Pecas interview the Victor Cruz was information gathering. Instead of a combination approach this was a nondirective approach because the interviewee controlled interview. During the interview Pam would ask Victor a question and he would go in-depth with his responses. While Victor was responding Pam would use three probes that were nudging, silence, and information. With the silence probe she would stay silent which allowed Victor to give further information. When she asked how much a specific pair of Jordan’s cost that was an example of information
