When I originally contacted The Coalition for the Homeless it was explained to be that due to how busy and chaotic it can be they sometimes conduct group interviews. My interview with the Coalition for the Homeless was on August 10, 2016 and I was to meet with Mr. Boyd. The interview was quite interesting, on the day of my interview the agency was having a small celebration. They were celebrating the fact that several clients got hired by several of the companies in which clients participated in different internships. I had the pleasure of also speaking to present and previous clients. I got a good look at how easy it is for anyone to fall on hard times and be put in a position lose their homes and end up in a shelter with their families.

Boyd to describe what are the academic requirements needed by the social service staff here at the agency. He replies by telling me that many outreach workers have degrees that vary from a High School diploma all the way to a Master’s degree and beyond. A bachelor’s degree in social work is the most common requirement for most entry-level positions. However, some employers may hire workers who have a bachelor’s degree in a related field, such as psychology or sociology. Some positions will require a master’s degree in social work. Mr. Boyd also states that many like himself started at the Coalition with a high school diploma full of ambition and empathy for those of who truly needed help. Over the years he has completed his Associates, Bachelors and Masters Degrees along with several other trainings. According to Mr. Boyd some of the major issues and concerns for the agency is that several budget cuts over the years have limited the amount of help they can
