Communication can be spoken verbally, written, expressed through our nonverbal actions, and through several other mediums. Through this year’s Intro to Communication course, I have learned the prominence that communication holds in my daily life, and some of my communication skills have improved throughout the course of the semester. The first, and perhaps most obvious form of communication, is verbal communication. At the beginning of the semester, I rated myself as fair in this category for a few reasons. At the beginning of the semester, I rated myself as fair because I have not had many opportunities to communicate with people of other ethnicities and nationalities. Throughout the semester, I have met a few people from England and India, and I have had the opportunity to communicate with them. I stayed open minded, and I had a nice experience with those opportunities to communicate. To continue improvement, I will maintain my strong relationships with my family and friends through frequent …show more content…
At the beginning of the semester, I rated myself as fair in this category. I stated that I was affair of the effects of mass media, but I do not let news sources, for example, hold an influence on me. I use mass media to learn about current events, and for enjoyment in the forms of music, movies, and television. This is still true today in the sense of how I use mass media. Throughout the semester, I have attempted to read about current events more frequently, but as I became busier, it was easier to forget to read or watch the news. Therefore, I would still rate myself as fair in this category. To improve, I can attempt to read the news more frequently, perhaps once a day, to learn more about the world and to fully utilize this

My thoughts on human nature can best be summed up by the character Sirius Black in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix: “We’ve all got both light and dark inside us. What matters is the part we choose to act on, that’s who we really are.” Our ability to critically think about our behavior and make choices is what makes us human and sets us apart from our hominid ancestors. In fact, as far as other species are concerned, there is no concept of “good” and “evil”; there is predator and prey, threatening and safe, dominant and submissive. Morality is not a factor at play in the animal kingdom.…
