With this experiment, they looked at teachers ‘explicit ethnicity-based expectations for academic achievement’ and their ‘implicit prejudiced attitudes about academic achievement on students’ actual academic success over time. After having 38 teachers participate in a IAT and a traditional teacher expectation questionnaire, they found that classrooms that had teachers with high expectations performed better in certain subjects. Overall, it was found that the teachers’ explicit expectations did NOT vary in different ethnic groups but their implicit prejudiced attitudes related to student’s year-end scores in certain subjects. More specifically, there were some students who benefited from the favored implicit prejudice with their ethnicity. With implicit prejudice, we can predict behaviors.
