In the United States alone between 14,500 and 17,500 people are taken each year and forced into three categories. The three categories are, Sex Trafficking, Labour Trafficking, and Organ Trafficking. Sex Trafficking is forcing people to do sexual things to other people for money. Approximately 80% of human trafficking involves Sex Trafficking, 80% of those taken are women and children. Certifying means that they give the victims funding from the government to live their lives, much like what they do for the refugees. The Department of Justice investigates and prosecutes human trafficking. There are laws that are put in place to prevent and stop human trafficking , and the laws are helping, but the public can do a lot to help with the problem (Current Controversies). The people of the United States don’t realize that human trafficking is a real life problem. Many people think that human trafficking only happens in other countries and to other people. The truth is that it can happen to anyone at anytime. We should create groups that show the truth behind human trafficking, and group that would help victims and support them when the get saved from human
