One goes to sleeping thinking they will wake up the next morning and everything will be fine, it will be just another day. One could wake up one morning and find everything one has ever cared for to be gone. Valuables, prized possessions, anything one held dear, gone. Writers spend days, weeks, maybe even some years working on pieces, pieces that end up becoming something extremely valuable because of all the time, effort, and research that the writer has put into, taken so easily from students that wanted to find the easy way out of working. Honor code systems should be maintained because it would allow students to understand that plagiarism is something very serious, it would also help students value honesty and integrity, and it helps boost academic growth for students. …show more content…
We just sat there and watched it happen, knowing we could have prevented the outcome, but we crept in the silence. “Not all colleges have what it takes to make honor codes effective - not because the students are not honest, but because they do not expect anyone else to be.” Honesty can be harsh for the most part for some students, but it prevents us from severe consequences such as suspension and expulsion because we knew of another student plagiarizing and kept the information to ourselves. With a more enforced honor code students would easily come forward with the truth because they would not want to be held accountable for the actions of another
