Honesty is not the best in all situations, because it can be very hurtful. Honesty can easily ruin someone’s day by offending them or hurt their feelings. Hurting someone’s feelings is not the way to get people to agree with you or even like you. When you live by the policy of always being honest in not good in my perspective. This is because it hurts people’s feelings. For example if your friend gets a new shirt she really likes and you think its ugly. Thats friend ask if you like it and you were honest and told her it was ugly that would really hurt her feelings. Then again if you tell the same friend you really like the shirt and ask her where did she get it. She will continue her her day happy because she will think you like the shirt. …show more content…

Most people prefer the truth, but most people also do not like for people to ruin their day by telling them their honest opinion. A lie is only a lie if what they are telling you is false. Friedrich Nietzsche said in Morality as Anti-Nature “truth is confused with the effects of believing something to be true” (355). It can be argued that a lie is justified if the person telling the lie believes it to be the truth. Ericsson believes that lying is immoral, but everyone does it.…

In the first perspective it explains that you, as a person should focus on self improvement and become more self reliant. I honestly think as an opinion you would need to keep boosting people's spirits instead of being self centered because you don't want to make them feel good. Everyone has their own traits, personality, and characteristics, but if you don't care about other people, it shows you that you are careless about the good people on this earth. A strength of the first perspective is that you can get things accomplished and succeed in goals in your lifetime.…

At that moment, they feel upset, and you feel worse than you would if you were up front and let them know it wasn’t for you. We lie without even batting an eye, we may think we are polite and sparing other feelings or not trying to come off a snob or disrespectful but we do it. By thinking, we are well mannered, and an “Angel” and telling a small fib to be kind to the other person does not make you perfect, that is still lying and worse off than genuinely being polite and telling the truth. When lying comes into play, negative feedback or responses are well needed.…

I try to stay away from that kind of dishonesty, and always have since I was a little girl, because I didn 't like how we were being taught to behave. I want to live life being honest with myself and with others. I try to listen to what other people say and have genuine conversations about what matters. The flaw in social behavior is fear of offending or hurting the people around them, and that leads to surface-level socialization. Basically, a lot of talking that means very…

you find telling the truth way more easier than it is to tell the lie or “sweet talk” your way out of it. Lies no matter how big or small are going to add up and get much more confusing in the end. When speaking out on the truth its half of most people’s instinct or in my cases it’s not, but after a while and you focus on not telling lies it becomes nearly too almost impossible to lie .Someone or something gives it away and they are left already knowing. Like for example if there was a surprise dinner for someone at work and the person you are throwing a surprise to ask what are you doing for the weekend you say I have this surprise dinner I have to go to and you were just being honest and everyone was trying to be secretive about. If you are an honest person most people will come to you about information or feedback.…

veryday life, conflicts arise that pose the decision of whether or not to tell the truth. In the New York Times article titled “How Honesty Could Make You Happier”, Judi Ketteler explores the effect being truthful has on her own morale and happiness/satisfaction. Ketteler’s 6-year-old daughter once claimed that telling truths made her feel “gold in her brain”. Inspired by this, Ketteler decided to test her daughter’s theory by keeping a truth journal. For several months, she recorded any instances that prompted a choice between truth and lie, and then noted how telling the truth made her feel.…

Honesty is the avoidance of knowingly deceiving yourself or others. Honesty means not lying, cheating, or stealing, whether it is done with malicious intent or not. This holds true even in situations where dishonesty seems like the easy way out. Perhaps one of the least considered, and possibly most difficult, aspects of honesty is being honest with oneself. Everyone has moments where lying may seem like the easy way out.…

One day a little schoolboy forgot to do his homework and was scared to tell his teacher the truth. The teacher was taking up the homework and asked the child, “Where is your homework?” Instead of telling his teacher that he did not have the homework completed and accepting responsibility for his actions, the child replied, “My dog ate my homework.” This specific lie is something that has been used as an excuse from school children for years on end to avoid the consequences that come with forgetting to do their homework. Lies have become a dominant part of everyday life in today’s American society, good and bad.…
