Homeless students face a lot of discrimination in today’s society. They are looked at like they are less of a student by some of their peers and teachers. People think that because they do not have the same home life as they do that there is no way they will be able to be as successful. It is sad to think that children have to go through this kind of treatment based off of their home lives. People should be more sensitive to their circumstances and allow for them to forget about their home life while they are at school. A lot more children are homeless than I realized. This is due to the recession in our economy, parents are losing jobs and are not being able to take care of their families. It hurts to know that even though the children cannot control the situations going on in their families they are the ones take the blunt of the pain. …show more content…
Let them know that if they need help with homework or any assignments that they will find people to help them. Schools should also be aware of the child’s circumstances and try to not send home homework that requires a computer. Allow those students extra time at school to finish that work. And if possible schools should find ways to send food with the children to be sure they have at least something to eat. Ask the PTO of the school if they would be willing to do a food drive for the students in
