Personal Essay: The Heritage Of My Family

The way my topic represents heritage is about how of my family use different ways to celebrate holidays When I was little would go over to my grandmother house every year for every holiday. Before thanksgiving day my grandmother would call everyone’s household and tell them what dishes and they would have to cook. She would say that the dishes would need to be done by a certain amount of time; because we would always try to eat at the same time. For my household, it was mostly cupcakes because they family would make a joke about my mother’s meat cooking. My mother makes her cupcakes differently and for some reason, my little cousins would love it. I believe most people used cake batter but mother would mix both cornbread mix and cake batter together. Then she would add these sort of like rainbow colored sprinkles into the then batter then add the eggs. After this, she would then put them in the oven for like an hour, and she would cover them in pink icing. I thought this was the nastiest thing ever until I tried them one time.

My mother would always tell us to don’t expect all the stuff we saw in the movies about gifts because it doesn’t go like that. Mother would go on about how the consequences about those expensive gifts you want which were because of bills. The on Christmas eve we would watch the Christmas movies that came on tv. My mother and brother loved Charlie brown but I didn’t care too much for it. I hated how they showed Charlie brown because every holiday was Charlie brown just got tired of it. my favorite movies to watch was BA hum DUCK because it was funny that daffy duck hated Christmas.
