The negative side to doing online school was I wasn’t around kids my own age. I sat in a chair alone staring at a bunch of words. There are no group projects or partner work. I don’t get to have a sick day or snow day like in public high school. On the other hand, I was really happy I didn’t have to get up early in the morning to start my day. I didn’t have to sit in an uncomfortable school seat while a teacher rambled on about how important our lesson was. I also didn’t have to deal with the teacher repeatedly denying me access to go to the bathroom or not allowing me to eat in class because I forgot to eat breakfast that morning. My mom became my teacher. Moreover there was less weight on my shoulders about having to juggle my academic and social life. I can finish my high school diploma earlier than my friends and get a Headstart on looking at a career path I want to take. I also can start saving up for college by getting a job, which isn’t always easy to do when you’re in school during the day. Penn Foster has opened up a lot of doors for me as far as exploring new possibilities academically and socially. Moving forward I was excited to start to try new things. The “new things” I’m talking about are not just new trends, there new ideas I come up with myself. I wasn’t so influenced with other people's opinions I couldn’t even reach my own. It’s like I was a new person in the same
