The Importance Of Hemp

Improved Essays
We need to use hemp based materials instead of tree based materials because hemp bast metals are stronger than tree based materials.
We use the dumbest possible way to make paper, trees are made up of only 30% cellulose. The rest of the tree has to be removed using toxic chemicals and bleach, until the cellulose can be formed into paper. Where as hemp is 85% cellulose due to this, hemp makes a stronger paper without the need for toxic chemicals or bleach. It would be incredibly stupid for humans not to use hemp instead of wood. It’s also better for the environment. Besides that “trying to get high on industrial hemp is like trying to get drunk on non-alcohol beer.” Ford motor company made a plastic body composed of 70% cellulose fibers from

Hemp should not be planted at a depth greater than 2 inches for uniform growth. Hemp can be planted in early April provided that the soil has a good amount of moisture. It prefers sufficiently deep well-aerated soil with a PH of 6 or greater, and nutrient holding capacity. Hemp requires 80-100 lbs/ac of Nitrogen. Their is no need to use chemicals for weeds or most bugs, because the hemp fibers are normally ready to harvest in 70-90 days of seeding from sowing the seed, and it ranges from 4-15 ft tall and the stalk ¼-¾ of an inch around on average. Hemp is extremely sensitive to flooding, so be careful of “excess surface water after heavy rains as it will result in damage or even the loss to your crop.” “Since 1937, when hemp was effectively outlawed, 70% American natural forests have been destroyed.”only 4% of old-growth forest remain in the Americas, there is talk about building roads into them to cut them …show more content…
This is due to the fact that 1 acre of hemp can produce as much paper as 4-10 acres of trees over a 20 year cycle, but hemp can do it in just one 4 month cycle. This is because trees only contain 30% cellulose the rest is removed using toxic chemicals, where hemp is 85% cellulose. “According to an USDA report this information was known by 1916.” Because of the higher percentage of cellulose in hemp it does not need toxic chemicals or require any bleaching, it’s better for the environment than tree based paper, and hemp makes a better quality of paper then trees and it is easier to make. Hemp paper does not yellow, crack, or otherwise deteriorate like tree paper does. This is why our Constitution and Declaration of Independence are still here today. Hemp based paper can last hundreds of years, compared to tree based paper that can only last 25-80 years. And paper production is not the only use for hemp there are tens of thousands of ether uses for
