Despite an increase in meal plan cost, I still believe that we need to increase the amount of healthy food options. According to Healthyschoolcampaign.org, “Today, more than one-third of people under age 19 are overweight or obese” (2015). This is a problem that needs to be solved. We would be able to drastically lower the number of overweight teens if we put healthy food options, such as organic salad bars, in college cafeterias. Healthyschoolcampaign.org, otherwise known as HSC, calls for many things to change. HSC has many ideas such as supporting locally grown food, and limiting the amount of vending machine options in schools (2015). These are changes that we need to make. By providing locally grown produce in our cafeterias we can be assured that the food that we eat is not only nutritious and healthy, but we can also support local farmers. Also, if we limit the amount of unhealthy foods, such as candy and potato chips, sold in vending machines, and instead substituting them with healthier options, like yogurt and fresh fruit, we can ensure that college students are being served the food they
