Americans also have the right to life. Because the healthcare system works the way it does people who are sick but do not have money or insurance have this right taken from them. In a sense, sick people only have the right to life if they can pay for it.
The government needs to take control of the healthcare system. They need to create a system that is equal for everyone. Healthcare should cost the same across the board. You should be able to go to any doctor or pharmacy in the United States and be charged the same. The government needs to get rid of Medicare and Medicaid. A new program needs to take its place that everyone uses. The insurance premiums should be paid to the government. The government is responsible for paying the healthcare providers. This program should be based on income. The only way for this program to work would be to eliminate all other programs. Money would not be paid from the patient to the doctor or pharmacy. This would eliminate the lack of health insurance and coverage for everyone. According to Diana Hess, a small business owner interviewed by the Idaho Community Action Network, "What we really need from the President is a public insurance program that all owners and employees can access for quality healthcare," (Izen, p. 1).
