Although some cases of hazing may be harmless and just for fun, the traditions can be taken too far. There have been cases where hazing has caused physical/psychological damage. Some families have lost children due to violent acts of hazing. It is too risky for young players, or anyone for that matter, to be partaking in hazing, on the off chance that they are among the minority. Additionally, it is important that studies, like the one previously stated, are put out there for everyone to see. It is too commonly believed that hazing causes unity among players. That is not to say that friendships have not been formed among team members after a hazing incident. However, that same friendship could have been made just as easily through a non-hostile environment. That being said, these popular beliefs and excuses are no longer justified.
