The Importance Of Having Out Of Date Computers?

The University of Texas at Dallas has many great qualities. Some of these include a small campus for easy walking distance, 24/5 library, Activity center, and the usual college amenities. I have been at UTD for 2 years and ongoing in my 5th semester as a junior. Up till this point I’ve never noticed anything that was wrong with the campus, besides the constant construction, making every path blocked off and having to detour five minutes to get across campus. Though in my junior year I’ve noticed that more of my classes are required to use specific programs to complete homework assignments. Some of these programs included Creo Parametric, MATLab, and Simulink. These programs are only accessible to specific labs across campus. Two specifically Clark Center and ECS lab. The other thing is the lack of up to date computers and software (Windows 10). All these issues fall under the headline of technology. UTD is advance across many applications, but the quality of technology they provide to students is lacking. This is important to me because I constantly do work in computer labs across campus. However, when I need a specific software to use such as MATLAB. I’m forced to go to Clark Center or ECS lab. All the other computer labs on campus don’t have MATLAB installed. Depending on the majors corresponding to the respective building dictates what programs are installed on those computers. The problem here is that they make the labs open to all majors, yet they don’t have all the software needed for all majors to be able to work there. This results in me having to resort to old beaten down computers that have the software I need. This leads to the other problem of damaged
