The Importance Of Having All The Information Upfront Before Making Decisions

The most important take away from chapter 1, was learning how important it is to make sure that I identify all the objectives before making decisions. Once I am able to understand the objectives as well as the needs of the consumers and the organization, I will be well equipped to make good decisions for the project. I agree on the importance of having all the information upfront before making the decisions. Starting a project with being left in the dark and thinking that I would be able to make adjustments along the way would be foolish. In addition it would be such a waste of valuable resources and time. Before I start the simulation it is crucial that I make sure I read the simulation summary, managing your project, team process, tasks, scoring and project objectives. If I had not read each of those sections before starting the simulation, I potentially would start off the project by making bad decisions. The decisions of the project manger ultimately have a ripple effect throughout the whole project. The chapter expresses that if I rely on making decisions after the development phase, I will be setting up the project to not fulfill all the expectations or even possibly fail. The decision making process requires project managers and stakeholders to define the problem, establish objectives, identify alternatives, identify uncertainties, assess alternatives, gather information and update assessment, decided and implement, and monitor. (Powell & Buede, 2009, pp. 15-16). The
