The Importance Of Hatred To A Transgender Community

Decent Essays
What is hate? I mean, you would think you know the definition but it’s really hard to quantify the impact of that word; all emotions, love, hate, and sadness, are like that.. The definition does not match the feeling in the slightest. Hatred is something everyone has to deal with but in particular, transgender people have to deal with hate. Danica Roem is openly transgender and she’s a member-elect of the Virginia House of Delegates. In fact, she is the first transgender person to be elected to public office. I would love to meet Danica not because she’s an inspiration to members of the LGBTQ+ community everywhere. (which she is). Not because her victory over a self proclaimed homophobe who had been in office for 25 years and also openly disrespected her by not using her preferred pronouns and refusing to debate her in a predominantly red state is pretty earth shattering. (which it is). …show more content…
I was never very interested in politics, I like to follow the news and I know our current political system is broken on a number of fronts. I think Danica is going to fix that, not by public policy, I am confident that Danica is going to be a fantastic leader but she isn’t going to fix our problems that way. She is fixing our problems by being an inspiration to people everywhere. There are now girls who never thought they could run running thanks to Hillary Clinton. There are African-Americans who never thought they could run running thanks to Obama. Soon there are going to be LGBTQ+ people who never thought they could run running thanks to Danica.Since everyone reading this lives in New Jersey I just want to say don’t be surprised if you see the name Trent Tournour on the ballot one day. I started this by talking about how it is hard to understand emotion but there is one

However, in the 21st century, they are recognized as normal people with their own identities. Overall, the transgender community endured oppression in countless forms, in modern times, and throughout history. While transgender oppression can be seen during the development throughout history, in childhood and adolescence, in our society and other cultures, and transgender lives in the media, it is evident that the transgender community has a place in the history of nearly every culture on our planet. The transgender community is oppressed in many ways. Nevertheless, as our society continues to evolve, our opinions towards the transgender community will change for the…

Nina Hernandez, in “Is the Trans Conversation Changing in Texas”, argues that there is an opportunity in Texas to raise awareness for the trans community. Hernandez supports this argument by first going into detail about the “state-sponsored bullying” that results from the Texas legislation requiring transgender individuals to use the bathroom corresponding to the gender on their birth certificate (Hernandez). The author then goes on to use the mayor of New Hope, Texas as an example of a possible win for the transgender community. Recently, in New Hope, Texas, Jess Herbst was chosen to fill the position of mayor, after the previous mayer died of a heart attack. In a “fearless open letter to the town’s residents”, Herbst told of her struggle…

To most people, it may be difficult to fully understand the many obstacles that trans people face on a daily basis. They face huge disparities in almost every facet of society. Employers and landlords may gainsay people jobs and homes because they don't conform to gender norms, which is licit to do in 31 states. The 2011 National Transgender Discrimination Survey (NTDS) found trans people are approximately four times as likely to live in extreme impecuniosity compared to the general population. NTDS found 57 percent of trans people report family abnegation.…

William Jennings Bryan once said, “Never be afraid to stand with the minority when the minority is right, for the minority which is right will soon be the majority.” So often being Americans, we catch ourselves pulling for the underdog or cheering with the minority in hopes to see the majority fall in embarrassment. Historically speaking an independent woman was frowned upon and in some cases, they still are and a black African American was not even considered to be politically capable of running a country until 2008 when Barak Obama became president of the United States. Men and woman, both black and white throughout history have been underestimated and thrown to the side with the minority who accepted them. It takes a special leader from…

Gay love has been an issue for the longest now and it’s beginning to get out of hand. But that’s not the only thing that’s getting out of hand, what also is getting out of hand is societies view on those who are transgender. Which brought to my attention that some people are so reluctant to change that they resort violence and brute force in order to shape things into their image whenever something that they say is wrong starts to occur. They are only interested and care about what they want to see is “right” day to day. The way we approach people who are gay or transgender is outright ridiculous and ignorant which can easily be added to the millions of other situations where ignorance has occurred in history.…

Joseph R Murray II states that President Trumps ban on Transgenders serving in the military is unfair. Though despite having this opinion, he is for the ban on the basis that Transgender people are dealing with issues psychologically and pysically. In addition, he Murray believes it would create a problem because people would spend more time talking about the issue of Transgenders fighting in the military aside from the greater issues that are occurring in society. With that being said, I would have to disagree with Murrays stance. There are many problems that I see within this ban.…

Do you like being judged? Well, if not then why judge others? I believe that transgender teens should be allowed to wear whatever they want to their prom because they have that right, it is cruel to judge someone, and they can not help who they are. Transgender people should be allowed to wear what they want, not only to prom but any where. The reason is because they have that freedom of speech and deserve to be treated like citizens.…
