“Life always offers you a second chance. It's called tomorrow” - Unknown . An important lesson to learn in life is that there aren’t bad people, only bad decisions. We learn this by knowing people can change, you learn from mistakes, without forgiveness, one cannot move forward, and letting go of anger is the key to happiness. In the book Touching Spirit Bear and Holes, and the short story “Wings”, Cole, a boy who gets sent to a remote island in Alaska because he assaulted someone at his school, Stanley, a boy who was sent to Camp Green Lake because he stole very valuable shoes, and Icarus, a boy who failed to listen to his dad and because of that died all learned these lessons from many people and experience

icarus spiraled higher and higher and higher still he did not hear his father's voice here. Only the music of the wind; he heard the only the signing of the Gods.”In the text, Touching Spirit Bear it says,“I screwed up, and I'm doing the very best I can out here on this island. But it won't ever be enough, will it? I can't ever change what I did to Peter! And I can't ever change how you think about me.” Also the first time Cole went to remote island in Alaska he was really mad so he burned his whole shelter and all of his supplies. This connects back to my claim their aren’t bad people bad decisions because if Icarus concentrated more and focused oh his flying he could have stayed in the pattern and escaped, but now even though he’s dead daedalus can now step in his part and learn to always listen for advice. Also now after cole assaulted peter he will learn from his mistake and never do it again, instead he will take that anger in a different way that won’t hurt anyone. In addition this shows how there aren’t bad people only bad decisions because Cole didn’t burn down his supplies because he’s a bad person and he’s to good for help he just made a bad decision, now he learned from it and will never turn down help again. Learning in this way is extremely …show more content…
In the text, Touching Spirit Bear it says,“Wincing, cole sat up. ““How can I made you believe that you don’t have to be scared of me again? ““You just say that,”” Peter sobbed. ““Peter, I’m not a bad person. I got mad at you ‘cause I was really mad at myself. I thought my dad beat me because I was worthless.”” Cole paused. ““ The dances, carving the totem, carrying the ancestor rock, touching the spirit bear, it was all the same thing-- it was finding out who I really was.” “““That person is you, Stanley. You're the reason you are here. You're responsible for yourself. You messed up your life, and it's up to you to fix it. No one else is going to do it for you-- or any of you.””” This shows that Cole needs Peter to forgive him or he will never heal fully, Cole has changed but Peter doesn’t believe him as long as peter still thinks Cole is going to hurt him he will never be able to -----. Cole is not a bad person he just made a bad decision to hurt peter now in order to get better he needs forgiveness or he will always have that grudge on him. This shows that because Stanley is in Camp Green Lake he made a mistake even if it wasn’t totally his fault he should learn from it and make it better. Learning this lesson is important because if you never learn to forgive you will always come back to what you did and you will never

Cole has changed since he first arrived on the island where he would be staying for the next year. When he first arrived he was a selfish, angry kid and he blamed all of his faults on everyone but himself. For example, Cole snapped at Edwin and Garvey and said, “Aren’t you guys ever leaving?” Cole did not think that anyone cared about him, he just knew everyone wanted him to be out of their site. Although Cole is depicted as a selfish and violent kid, he has shown improvement in his attitude from his time being on the island. For instance, after the bear mauled him half to death, Cole realized the true beauty of life.…

Thanks to him and all that you learn in school, I can't look at this symbol and see nothing but hatred and fear for what it was used for. What I see is death and destruction. It's the symbol of a mad man that was hellbent on world domination that thankfully didn't happen. It also causes me pain because of all the lives that have died under that symbol and regime. Now getting to the history of the symbol, it turns out that the Swastika was originally used or created in Neolithic Eurasia.…

This reveals that the narrator doesn't care much for his brothers' health if he still does the stuff he's not supposed to do to Doodle. Because the narrator worked his little brother too much, it resulted in Doodle having more health complications. The text also states, "I screamed above the pounding storm and threw my body to the earth above his. For a long long time, it seemed forever, I lay there crying, sheltering my fallen scarlet ibis from the heresy of the rain" (Hurst). To put it differently, the narrator was pushing Doodle passed his limits, resulting in him dying.…
