Along with roughly 600 years of guns’ history, guns have always been very influential and they have become the quotidian tools which people would use to hunt for food and protect their loved ones. Unfortunately, in recent time, the wave of anti-gun has expanded due to some of the mass killings happened sporadically around the globe that makes publics believe that guns would only be dangerous tools. But in reality, guns have been used constantly for self-defense and banning guns will actually increase the threats to individuals. Therefore, guns should not be banned since they have proven to be necessary for self-defense as well as guns would actually reduce the crime rate and banning guns would indeed do nothing to restrain the criminals because …show more content…
Nowadays there are many cases of assault and mugging. According to FBI research data of 2015, there are about 1.18 million violent crime and more than 37 thousand cases of assault occur each year in the U.S but the crime committed rate in U.S. is rather low compared to the worldwide. That means there is an even more violent crime being committed around the world every year. (FBI) In face of this large amount of criminal assaults, people need an effective method of self-defense, and guns are prone to be the best choice for people. In the case of the church shooting in Aurora, Colorado, the whole adversity was stopped by one of the church members who carried a gun. (Hunter) In another case presented by the Tampa Bay Times, a robbery happened at a corner store on May 10, 2016. The robbery was prevented because one of the victims happened to carry a gun with him (Lott). From the two separate cases presented, it can be seen that if the victims in both cases were not carrying guns, the criminals would’ve gotten their way and the case would’ve taken on a much more tragic ending. There are countless self-defense cases taking place every day and they should all be treated seriously or else they might become a larger problem like what happened recently at Sandy Hook Elementary, and in Pulse nightclub, if there was someone with a gun, the bloodbath would have been hindered, or not as tragic as it was. Guns had played …show more content…
These dreadful mass killings were undoubtedly committed by the radical minority who intentionally wish to harm and kill others (Kyle). They would do whatever to harm others and when those criminals, don’t follow laws and restricting more of the American's freedom when it comes to self-defense isn't a responsible answer (Palin). However, if guns are allowed, criminals would know that if citizens carry guns, they will not be able to take an advantage because they are more likely to be stopped (Abe). According to Citizen Reports UK, over 500 people were killed every year ever since banning gun had established (ibid.). These prove the point that gun ban will not disarm criminals but attract them and even if guns are banned in the United States, there will still be killings. The prohibition of guns will only be in

Gun control has been extremely controversial in society for years. In the essay “Just Take Away Their Guns,” James Q. Wilson argues his view on stricter gun control laws. He writes, “Legal restraints on the lawful purchase of guns will have little effect on the illegal use of guns” (Wilson, 1994, p.125). He backs up his statement with the statistics that 5/6 of handguns used in crimes are either stolen or purchased privately. With this being said, he displays that increasing legal restraints on purchasing guns will have little to no effect on the use of guns to commit crimes.…

The Second Amendment Some people in the United States of America feel that the Second Amendment should be removed due to crimes in this country. Others feel that if the amendment was removed, the brutal death rates would increase, creating more harm than good. Although most people believe that guns can be dangerous, we should not amend the Second Amendment because people need guns for home and self defense, guns are a reliable source to help put food on the table, and they are also a way to help keep terror groups and enemies out of our country (Gun Control Controversy). In today 's world, America has become a horrific place filled with crime and murder.…

John R. Lott Jr., author of More Guns, Less Crime, reported several occurrences where there were attempts of violent attacks in which citizens had to defend themselves with a handgun. Handguns are used as more of a deterrent in cases like these. The armed criminal is more afraid of being shot than of being arrested (31-32). Through the years, American gun owners believed in a compromise over gun control laws, “give me this now, and I’ll take the rest later, is how David Hardly explains it in his article “Why Gun Owners are Right to Fight against Gun Control.” The first group targeted was the small inexpensive revolver, then the larger assault rifles, or anything that looked like a machine gun.…

Society has been split into two over whether or not guns should be banned, but there needs to be a solution where both parties can be happy. Anti-gun advocates present reasoning why guns should be banned. McMahan’s main two arguments of why guns should be banned: one, guns in the community creates a more dangerous environment; and two, the police have less of a power to protect citizens when society has guns (Shafer-Landau, The Ethical Life (EL) 390). McMahan explains that communities are not going to be free of crimes with more people carrying around guns, because criminals will be more prepared, efficient, and quicker to grab and shoot their target (Shafer-Landau, EL 392-392). People with guns will be safer than people without guns, because they do not have a gun to protect themselves.…

Being able to brandish a weapon to show the, would be assailant, that all individuals aren’t helpless, and in turn will prevent the crime to turn into a statistic (James Q. Wilson). People should keep in mind the assumptions of what Gun control can bring. The first assumption is that most hand guns are stolen, borrowed, or obtained through personal transactions. It is a strong possibility that guns that were used in the progress of a crime could be true, but the only statistics that can stem from that is those who were caught with the gun, and by where they said it was obtained from.…

In America, there is a growing perception that guns are: they are harmful, they kill, and they commit crimes, and so most guns should be banned. But, how can a gun kill or commit crimes; it is not a living thing, it is a tool. With the use of guns, America has grown to be a strong and independent country throughout history. The push to ban guns will only keep guns away from law abiding citizens since criminals, by nature, do not follow laws and respect the gun free zones. The banning of guns in America should end.…

After obtaining guns, children and adults collect them and proceed to improve their accuracy in shooting, but getting rid of them would make the world a dangerous place. Many people who believe that guns are the leading cause of death in the United States, are incorrect. A gun is not a person, it has no feelings nor can it move on its own it cannot be personified nor be blamed for any of the actions. A gun must be wielded by a person and that person is the one responsible for pulling the trigger. If guns were banned and somehow a criminal couldn’t get his hand on one illegally, they can still kill.…
