Gun Controversy: The Importance Of Gun Violence In Schools

There has been a lot of conflict over the fact that guns are being carried and allowed in public places. Now a days because of all the conflicts, for example the ones that Bowling for Columbine shows, the gun controversy has increased, especially in schools. There are many pin points for the occurrence of gun violence. The two most common are abuse, association with gangs, and guns. Schools imply laws that try to prevent these events from happening and protecting the youth from danger in schools. The problem has become a major factor that now before entering school you are required to go through a metal detector and security to ensure the protection of students and the staff. Also, securities are now placed in schools as well for the good and protection of the students. Furthermore, other countries such as Germany have encountered school gun violence as well. Guns are taking over our system and flooding our society day by day. More American youths have been killed by guns in the last thirteen years than were killed during the entire Vietnam War. This particular documentary, Bowling for Columbine, portrayed more of a negative feeling towards myself. The film was effective in my view because it made me visualize on how far gun violence has escalated throughout the years and how it has become a necessity to carry a gun for protection. This documentary also shows and gives real life proof that gun violence has been a big problem in school and in the community as well. Some citizens believe that carrying a gun is safe and that it is for their own protection because now a days you may never know what you can encounter in a matter of seconds.
