The Importance Of Gun Safety In America

Improved Essays
The increased risk of gun related injury and death is a problem which arises for the reason, people keep loaded guns in places where others have access to them. The right to keep firearms in the home is a right of every American citizen, often other family members in the home can potentially access these firearms. According to the Second Amendment of the Constitution, American citizens have the right to keep and bear arms. Therefore, all American’s young and elderly should receive education about gun safety. Currently CCW instructors teach about gun safety, though the statistics still show high numbers of guns are kept in the home unlocked and loaded. This may result from the fact, not all gun owners have taken the CCW class. During my research

Murica doesn’t need Gun control Gun Control is a very hot topic these days. Some people think that having more gun laws in America would lessen the number of murders in America, however I think that having more strict gun control laws would do nothing to stop criminals from getting guns or killing people. Criminals will always find a way to get weapons. To prove this, handguns in the UK have been banned since 1998 and the murders have actually rose in numbers. For this reason I think gun control laws would not stop criminals from getting guns…

Americans in Arms Guns, both the savior, and destroyer of our nation. They can both protect, and diminish. Guns have always been a very sensitive subject, with people all have very different opinions. This is why we should have gun control, because let's face it, guns are the problem here, not the people who use them. Guns are too easy to get ahold of, very easy to find, and too dangerous to be allowed into the general public.…

Too often concealed weapons are looked at as the problem or issue in a crime, rather than the people carrying them. There are many ways to prevent people that are not responsible, nor sane enough from owning weapons. Due to media, along with unstable people, carrying concealed weapons is looked at in a negative way rather than positive, thus leading to many feeling that weapons do more harm rather than good. Carrying a handgun is a right, a right that the people in our country fought for and are still fighting to ensure.…

Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. No phrase better describes the equality and rights of Americans. The United States Constitution became the supreme law to protect those rights and guarantee equal rights to all citizens. The Constitution has been amended twenty-seven times as the country has grown and changed, but it still remains a controversial document. Many people today argue over whether the Constitution and its Amendments are still a valid form of law in the United States.…

Even the people who are against guns should take the initial step to teach what a firearm is and how to operate one. This knowledge gained by a child or an adult may be very beneficial and the main reason is gun safety. The danger of guns are possible, but everything kids or adult explore in life as the potential to be dangerous. But as a parent and a responsible adult, they teach their kids about the danger of playing with fire or drowning in the swimming pool. But yet, when that time approaches, parents let their kids use the stove or enjoy swimming.…

Gun control remains to be one of the most popular debates along with abortion, animal testing, and climate change. What makes gun control so controversial? Well, many people have different views on the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, which reads as “A well-regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.” Advocates for gun control believe this applies only to police and military, but will gun control actually help reduce crime. I chose to believe that stricter gun laws will not be of help, since countries and states who already have done so have seen little to no difference in crime, criminals will not be affected and still get their hands on…

“In a perfect world, people would take the time to learn what they need to know before carrying a concealed weapon,” Will Hoerl of Overland Park said. “In the less-than-perfect world we have, I fear that far too many people will simply decide they can now grab a gun and leave the house with little, if any clue about when (and) how they can legally use it"(Hendricks). People who have easy access to guns are the ones who commit crimes and either hurt or kill people by accident. People should take the time to learn what information they need to know to carry a weapon. If people are more educated about gun safety there may be less gun violence and less accidental deaths linked to people who were not properly educated.…

The culture and laws of a country are heavily influenced by its history. The United States of America was born out of violence. On July 4th 1776, a group of well-respected Americans signed The Declaration of Independence, officially announcing America’s separation from Great Brittan and initiating the Revolutionary War. Once America emerged as victors of the war in 1783, in order to protect the civil rights of American citizens, laws were created by members of legislature. Today, one of the most controversial laws can be found under the second amendment of the Bill of Rights.…

Gun control these days in the United States of America is an immense topic and I purpose that we should follow as a nation on what other countries are doing about it to guard ourselves from each other and other threats that may invade our homeland. In which, I believe in arming more people would reduce mass shootings in the United States, just like how the Germans use the Autobahn to prevent accidents with unlimited speed for that freeway. As for giving guns to everyone, it may include a side effect of people using guns to kill others no matter what, it is difficult to control people’s minds, because humans have their own free will, which is very impossible to contain such as the concept of violence. It is human-nature, even if they are nice and look defenseless. I believe we should pursue other countries’ ideas about gun control, instead of throwing away privileges with guns all together, to a point where we as a people or a nation that cannot protect ourselves and our loved ones.…

Making our school safer According to Justin Carissimo “There have been 142 school shootings in the US since the Sandy Hook shooting in 2012, a near average of one a week, according to data compiled by Mass Shooting Tracker.” According to Everytown a site for Gun Safety “there have been at least 94 gun-related deaths and more than 156 people injured”. This needs to stop and there is a solution. The solution would be to arm our teachers with guns and give them training on what to do in a shooter scenario. The teachers will not just be handed a gun and told “shoot the bad guy” the teacher will have to attend trainings consistently and will be trained in tactics.…

62% of the 31,000 deaths caused by a gun are suicides (Cornell 2). According to Arthur L. Kellerman, MD, “residents of homes where a gun is present are 5 times more likely to experience a suicide than residents of homes without guns” (A Case for Gun Control). I have experienced the effects of suicide within my own family. One month ago, my cousin Marisa committed suicide. She was 26 years old and had been diagnosed with schizophrenia a few years prior to the tragic incident.…
