Community Service In High Schools

Have you ever put much thought into what it takes to graduate high school? All the classes and more classes that they just keep throwing at you. Your first year of high school you think it’s going to be a breeze, you get all your stupid electives that you need to have for graduation out of the way, but then the next year their throwing new computer, physical education or even health classes at you. More things to add to the list of classes to not only finish but pass. Yes, pass you can’t just take those classes and fail them you have to pass them to graduate or guess what, you get to take them over and over again until you do pass them. Now, guess what? Community service is one of those activities that is outside of school and normally on weekends, but if you got to pick your type of service. Would that make it better? There’s thousands of choices that you could pick from to get your community service hours in, like hanging out with the senior citizens, picking up parks, cleaning an older person 's house, highway cleanup, send care packages or even raise money to help someone in need. The way I would spend getting my community service hours would be hanging around the senior citizens.

The first reason I would earn my hours with the senior citizens is because they tell great stories. You could spend hours upon hours down at the senior center listening to all the older people tell you stories. They have so many card games and dice games that they know how to play that you never thought about playing. They love playing games and they always seem to win. They also love teaching people how to play new games weather if it 's a card or board game they love playing and teaching games. They love learning new games to play too, as long as it’s a card or board game they don’t want to play video games. They don’t have enough coordination to push all the buttons on the controller and watch the television to see where they 're going. Older people like to be able to touch and feel what they are doing and be able to see what they’re doing, they like visiting with you while you play games and tell you stories. Just like my first reason on why I would spend my hours hanging with the senior citizens is because they tell you stories. Now you can play games with them while they tell you all about their life and what it was like growing up. There are a ton of fun games that they use to play back in the olden days when the senior citizens were all younger that we don’t even know about. They play games with pigs that are dice, card games with jails and lots of different games that you could come up with just with things lying around your house. While playing all these games and listening to stories you also get much laughter out of them all. Clearly stories and games
