If the government decided to interfere with the daily life of the American citizen, what would the reaction be? Would the citizen allow their right to privacy to be invaded? When Americans were asked if the government had a right to be involved in the everyday diets that were consumed, the people were split three ways. The food industry controls the advertisement market by dropping an obscene amounts of money on just advertising. The government is increasing its power, slowly but surely, and soon the Federal government will try to control every aspect of a citizen’s life. The American government should not have a say in the diets of American citizens for three reasons: Citizens have the right to personal choice, the government is influenced by big food industries, and controlling American diets could become a gateway into controlling other aspects of everyday life for Americans.

The influence the food industry has over the government is downright scary. The industry influences laws and will do whatever it takes to get its way. For example, take Monica Lewinsky and Bill Clinton. As Clinton tried to tell Lewinsky that they could not continue their relationship beyond a professional one he got a phone call from a Florida sugar grower about the proposed sugar tax. The money from the tax was to go to Everglade’s restoration in parts that had been harmed by chemical runoff from the sugar fields. The grower wanted Clinton to veto the sugar tax and dismiss it altogether. Needless to say Clinton vetoed the bill his vice president proposed. It would be important to point out that it is no surprise to the citizens who pay attention that the fact that the food industry climbs into bed with the government at night, almost literally with this
