For years I wondered was it possible to go to school fulltime and work fulltime? I wondered how more and more people were able to juggle full time work, and going back to school full-time? It did not seem like there was enough hours in the day to work and go to school. I often wondered if I would be to stressful to work and go to school fulltime. A study was done from Worcester State College in Worcester, Massachusetts for enrolled students over the age of 60. When asked, “ What would you identify as three most positive aspects of going back to school?”
The majority answered structure my day, new friendships, new ideas, joy of learning, connections with the younger students, mental stimulation, sense of achievement and keeps you feeling young. The American Council for Education found that the main reason students work is to pay for their tuition and living expenses. Nobody wants to rely on student loans. If you must work while in college, it is recommended you try working in a environment related to your major. A nursing student may get a job in a hospital or similar. One third of working students still work at the same job they had before they graduated. It is important to let your job know you are in school, because this might help with a promotion. Another interesting fact is working can actually improve your school performance. Shockingly you may face business challenges and workplace issues that may apply directly to an assignment you may have. Your boss may be willing to help you with an assignment.
