• Dress, Look and Act Professional
You have to look like a winner to be a winner. The dress code for any interview should be business attire. It's always best to dress, look and act professional. It's easier to go from business to casual clothing than from casual to business clothing. An interview is not the time to make a fashion statement. Your clothes should communicate professionalism. Before you go to a scholarship interview, make sure you read Dress for success.

A good handshake is firm but not tight. Also, smile and make good eye contact when you shake the interviewer’s hand. Do not make the mistake of offering what is often called the "limp” handshake, which is often a sign of shyness or a lack of confidence. This does not mean that you should offer a “crushing” handshake, but it should be a firm, comfortable handshake which shows your confidence and enthusiasm for meeting the interviewer. You may have to make the first gesture towards a handshake, which is uncommon.

In the event of Men Valuing Professionalism the presentation of the interim vice president of Student Affairs, Dr. Wayne Brumfield “College Student Loan Debt Crisis” helped me to get a better understanding that the amount of loans that a college student take can be harmful to our future. He discussed the group of people that borrow more money from the school who are white or black males and both groups have the same expectation of salary after graduating. However, in the presentation, he touched interesting points, but one that catches my attention was that if you have a big amount of student loan debt and you get married and you partner also has it. I learned that the best thing to do is not combine both student debts to pay them in one because…

I, professional Professionalism is a huge word composed of small acts. It’s not been a long time since I graduated from college and just 2 months ago when I signed my contract to this company. There are lots of changes since then. I was the “I-don’t-care-as-long-as-I-passed” person, the rule unto myself, I am the “go have fun as there is time”, I am just representing “me”. I was overwhelmed when I got hired by this company, I mean, first job ever!…

While the customer may seem in control of the situation, diffuse it by not responding the same way.  Use direct eye contact, be sure to smile, and let them know you will be with them as soon as you are done with the customer you are currently assisting.  Don’t respond to them in a derogatory way. Other customers who may witness this situation may see your response as inappropriate and decide to go somewhere else.…

Instructors should incorporate learning across the health fields in an academic setting, so incoming health professionals have the ability to correctly utilize each other as a resource. Inter-professional training will assist health teams working cohesively together as a unit, instead of separate units working only working on the same patient. By working as a unit, all of the skills that are presented from each health care professional becomes a resource that will be used in an appropriate manner. Also, inter-professional training builds respect for their job, perspectives, and array of abilities.…

When teachers give dress code violations to a girl for wearing shorts that are too short or because her choice in clothing is ‘innappropriate’, you are telling her that hiding her body and normal female parts (such as stomach, shoulders or thighs) is more important than her education. You are also telling her that a boys’ disturbance-free learning is more significant than her disturbance-free learning. Obviously some degree of dress code is important but shoulders, stomach and thighs should not be classed as inappropriate or distracting. The school dress code treats males and females differently.…

Dress codes are created for varieties of different reasons. Some places should have them such as more professional work environments; but places such as casual work environments and schools should not. There shouldn't always be a dress code in tact, but places should always have boundaries on what is acceptable for people to wear. In my opinion, more professional jobs should require dress codes. Depending on the type of job, people should only have to follow a dress code if it is completely necessary.…

Reflection On Professional Organizations I have been conducting research on some professional organizations and I have determined that ASHP would be a good match for me. This is because ASHP is an organization that is heavily involved in advocating legislation to benefit pharmacists, patients, and the health care system. Some of the most important issues to me are getting the pharmacist more involved in a patient’s health care and to make health care in general more efficient. ASHP is attempting to accomplish these tasks by actively advocating legislation to meet their goals.…
