Video games are electronic games played using computers or special game players such as the Xbox or PlayStation. Xbox and PlayStation are dedicated computer sets that work with television sets. Video games represents a society and reflects the belief or value of that society which are portrayed through personalities, social class, beliefs and value of those who created and designed the game. Video games are characterized by entertainment, rules, locations, competition, unreal, genres and cheating. There have been controversies over some video games because it is said to promote the ideas of female sexuality, gendered violence and racial dynamics; an example is Grand theft auto. They are used by men sexually and also murdered to get points in sport, health etc. and for pleasure. In one of the scenes in the game, there is a mini game and the objective is to make a a stripper give you a lap dance until your "Like" meter at the bottom of the screen is completely filled, meaning she will go home with you. At this point, you can decide what kind of sex you have with the stripper. Male players have the option to kill women by punching them, using guns or machete to get their money back. Grand Theft Auto is not the only game that shows violence against women and also the game cannot be blamed for gendered violence in our society. But the graphics in the game of how women are violently humiliated, assaulted and seen as a property occurs in how women are been raped in our society today. The way male video game players see how gender roles are different and how women are portrayed in video games can lead to more gendered violence in the real society In 2012, some women formed the hash tag #1reasonwhy on twitter as a result of oversexualization of female characters in video games. This was because female harassment in video games was something that happens in the real society and these ladies found it offensive.
