Growing up people are raised to be fair, equal and to share with others no matter what. In today’s society it’s quite different. All round the world discrimination, violence and depression is spilled out regardless if it has been done at work, school, public places or even at home. One in particular issue that evolves throughout this gigantic universe is equality. “Equality is far more important and should be recognized, equality means the quality or state of being equal the quality or state of having the same rights, social status, etc.”(Merriam Webster). The title of which an individual holds should determine the wages rather than each individual’s gender. “Did you know that in 2014, women working full time in the United States typically were paid just 79 percent of what men were paid, a gap of 21 percent? The gap has narrowed since the 1970s, due largely to women’s progress in education and workforce participation and to men’s wages rising at a slower rate. But progress has stalled in recent years, and the pay gap does not appear likely to go away on its own” (Hill, Catherine). The pay gap is far more difficult. This is based off of age, color and gender. Among full-time workers in 2014, Hispanic, African American, American Indian, and Native Hawaiian women had lower median annual earnings compared with non-Hispanic white and Asian American women. Compared with salary information for white male workers, Asian American women’s salaries show the smallest gender pay gap, at 90 percent of white men’s earnings. The gap was the largest for Hispanic and Latina women, who were paid only 54 percent of what white men were paid in 2014. On that note according to Hill, Catherine Ph. D. based on statistics in 2014 in New Jersey the annual earnings for men was $60,870 and for women their annual earnings was $48,943 which leaves the earnings ratio 80% .
