Rhetorical Analysis On Gender Equality

The support for gender equality is not only applicable to women. In "Why gender equality is good for everyone - men included," Michael Kimmel's goal is to provide further explanation as to how gender equality is beneficial to all genders. Kimmel states that "making gender visible to men is the first step to engaging men to support gender equality"(5:03). In his performance, Kimmel focuses on the family "roles" which can be improved by promoting gender equality. Through the support of equality a family's health can be improved in its household and out in the workplace. Businesses are in fact losing money through inequality and countries are low in the "happy scale" which is proven by various studies. Kimmel is there to "recruit men to support gender equality".
Kimmel's seemed to have thoughtfully incorporate a comical stance to it based on the audience's laughter in addition to his confident posture throughout his lecture. Michael Kimmel is a sociologist, leading researcher, and a writer in men and masculinity. He is also a professor in sociology and gender studies. While these studies provide factual evidence it is does not provide a deeper meaning to gender equality. It should be known that gender equality is not only applicable to women and men. They are not the only genders that can be identified with in this day in age. Furthermore Kimmel should make it clear to the audience that this lecture was based on gender equality in America. If not then his lecture should provide more depth in how gender equality can affect third world countries. It would make Kimmel's lecture stronger and more informative if he provided examples and arguments towards
