Knowing that women and men are only about 2-3% different biologically from each other there gives reason to argue that they should both have the same creative levels. Why should only 2-3% make such a large difference? Research findings have found that when the Y chromosome, which is acquired at birth, has shown capabilities of restricting some gene expression in males throughout their lifespans. This can affect how the brain develops leading to different parts being large or smaller in men than in women. It has been observed that women are found to have larger paralimbic and fronto-orbital areas. The paralimbic region of the brain controls emotions, and this could possibly explain why women are more attuned with emotions and more willing to show them than men. This could contribute to certain studies that have proven when the successfulness of completing a tasks affect other people women were more likely than men to complete task creatively. Suggesting that women can emphasize more with others than men because of this structural constraint. The fronto-orbital area is the part of the cephalic region that hold the eyes and is the insertion point of the optic nerve, these are also proven to be structurally larger in women than men. Explaining why women can see up to 30 more shades of colors than men. However there is proof that men have a larger fronto …show more content…
One biological factor that has been thought to stem from a sociocultural factor is the size of the hypothalamus in people. It has been proven that a heterosexual male has a hypothalamus three times larger than a heterosexual woman or a homosexual man. The hypothalamus plays an important role in controlling the endocrine system which has to do with gland secretion and hormone regulation. This could be an essential reason as to why people who identify as men are thought to have a more logical thought and creative process than people who identify as women. The classic gender roles in life that society has created towards the genders can also be a limiting constraint to the creative level. Women throughout history have been seen as the typical stay at home parent who teaches and takes care of the children until their husband gets home from work. This is a part of the theory, which has not been confirmed but hypothesized about; that women have shown to surpass men from kindergarten to college level education, however after college women show a decline in their creativity level and are then surpassed by men. However under a new study conducted in 2012 by Prudential Financial, and reported by the Huffington Post, “ Of the more than 1,400 women surveyed — 40 percent of whom were single or divorced — 53 percent were the breadwinners in their
