“A best friend is someone you can talk to, who won’t judge you, loves you for you and best of all makes you feel like you are worth something” -Anonymous. This is important to the story “Freak The Mighty” because Kevin and Max demonstrated a strong friendship, they accepted each other without judgment. Also, they made each other feel like they belonged. Friendship is important because having a good friend can help get you through hard times. Many people agree that trust is needed in a friendship. This shows that Kevin and Max had a strong friendship because they trusted each other a lot. A big event that shows that Max and Kevin trusted each other is the encounter with Tony D. and the pond. That lead to forming their friendship. “How does doing on adventures create a strong friendship?” you might ask, well when Max and Kevin went on adventures, it helped them build trust between each other. One adventure was when Max and Kevin recovered and returned Loretta’s purse. Max and Kevin went out at night, and recovered Loretta’s purse in a storm drain after Tony D. stole it, and threw in the drain. After they got the purse they returned it to Loretta. Loretta then told Max and Kevin that she knew Max’s dad, and knew how Kevin’s dad left him. Another adventure they went on was the trip to the hospital; where Kevin showed Max where he was going to get his surgery. Kevin guided Max to the hospital where he showed Max where he was to get his bionic body. This adventure built up the story of Kevin getting his body even though Kevin knew it was not true. Max and Kevin went on many trips together based on medieval time. These “quests” were base a lot on King Arthur and the knights of the round table, and during these quests Kevin built up the adventure for Max by using the language of the time.
