In the novel we do not really touch on jurgis’s family but there was one person who was always there to support him, Ona, the love of his life. Thus he never really witness slaves since in his city that he lived before everyone most people were broke so there was not anyone to rule any other person. Therefore, the slavery and right to life that Sinclair had to face in his adolescent really raised the image of sinclair due to the novel The Jungle.
