We aim to decrease the number of tickets received by students by making the rules and regulations clear. The goal is to improve the quality of the system through innovation, convenience and consensus. Each year a class of students graduates and new students come in. Every student has a different need and different schedule this provides DOTS with less incentive to accommodate the students every year, demotivating them. The rise in student enrollment and growth in overall campus population, paralleled with a limited supply of parking spots has led to an improperly managed transportation system.
We have collected information by interviewing students and faculty, in order to gauge view attitudes and perceptions on DOTS role and performance on

There are various reasons why DOTS should allow two hour free parking to students. The first reason is that parking is very costly, and students do not have enough money to pay for the parking. Another reason is the location of the parking lot. Some students classes are located 10 to 15 minutes from the parking lots, the time for students to walk back to the parking lot and add the minute for parking, then go back to their classes might be too long, and that might result in a parking tickets. The last reason to allow two hour free parking to students is students’ class schedule. Many students only have 5 to 10 minute interval time to go to the next class, so they will never have enough time to go back to their parking and pay again. If DOTS considers these reason, and accept to allow the 2 hour free parking for students, DOTS will reduce the issue of parking tickets, and both parts will be satisfied. Another possible solution for our problem is to have a 15-30 minute grace period after visitors’ parking meters run out. This provides the students additional incentive, and serves as a reward well. Commuters will come prepared having planned their trip ahead of time. This will alleviate escalation of commitment; commuters will not park at a no-parking zone. Being well informed in advance, they will be able to find a parking spot ahead of time and make rational decisions. DOTS can program an app that informs the users about the real-time availability of parking spots in a particular parking lot. Additionally, it may also provide information on traffic delays, congestion and suggestion on where to park. The information can also be provided via text for commuters who do not carry a smart-phone. Perhaps, the service can be provided at little cost. This gives DOTS an incentive to create such a system. If the timing of the text message/app to alert about a parking spot availability automatically can be customized, it gives the commuters an incentive to use the app and save time and gas wasted on railheading. If a particular parking lot is already full, the driver can change his/her direction ahead of time easily. This is an example of innovation strategy, which introduces new products and services, not just cosmetic changes from previous offerings. Negotiation will be a paramount factor while influencing DOTS to

Problems in inner-city populations often become apparent only after solutions are presented. Now with technological advancements available, it is simpler to identify all the problems caused by off-street parking requirements and use that information to determine an ideal parking rate. The best demonstration of such a system is San Francisco’s impressive pilot program called SFpark, which modifies curb parking prices to attain a target occupancy rate by utilizing sensors that track the vacancy of each space in real time. This flexibility of parking prices means there is always sensibly-priced parking available for the general public, and businesses don’t have to worry about being affected because these curb spaces will always remain almost fully occupied. Shoup states that “SFpark embodies two key ideas.…

Students entering their Junior or Senior year may also feel like differential tuition may not be beneficial because most of these students are already more than halfway done with their college career -- they will not need extra advising assistance and have completed all of their bottleneck courses. To compensate for this, SGA had the idea to decrease the amount that older students have to pay per semester. Differential tuition in the long run can be very efficient if the student has a lot of bottleneck courses holding them a semester or even a year back behind where they are supposed to be. Decreasing the amount bottleneck courses can ensure that each student is able to enter into their courses and follow their academic plan to ensure graduating on time. The academic plan would also be made through advising appointments, which are made possible because of differential…

Overcrowded colleges affecting our future Many seniors in high school receive their college acceptance letters thinking that the battle is over but in reality it’s just beginning. They go from having classes picked out to crashing courses praying they get into a class. Overcrowded state colleges and universities is an issue in California for current and future students, it’s an issue that can easily be solved by either building more schools like Hanson had stated in his article or by reducing the class sizes. If the student doesn’t get into any classes then that they’re force to stay in school longer and that decreases the chances of graduating on time.
