One way to increase student lunch participation is including its cost into the annual budget. Also, voting to turn school meals into a government-funded program may discard the cost completely. Public schools can start the process by asking parents to vote in a poll for a small tax increase to cover school meal expenses for all students. Next, law makers can review those polls from each school, assess where to make possible budget cuts and accrue government funds, then all taxpayers to officially vote to provide free meals to all students enrolled in early childhood education programs. Turning school meals a government-financed program for all students enrolled in early childhood education programs, will in turn, increase the overall breakfast and lunch participation among children.
