My Highest Good Research Paper

In life all one can ask for is peace and happiness, and to be able to live with what's happening. All my life I have dwelled on the past and not being able to forgive my parents for leaving me and not being In my life, as I am getting older I have to be able to forgive and honestly let go. I want to give my kids things I could not get growing up. Being a better person and learning from others mistakes is all I can ask for in life. Being able to do this would make me feel unexplainably happy and achieved my all time goal. My highest good to strive for is to be happy.

One way to achieve my highest good is by forgiving everything that has happened in the past. Epictetus stated, "of all existing things some are in our power,many others are not

Many people don't really understand why being at peace can help achieve my highest good. In life I feel like we all have to go through a heart ache or go through a lesson that really effects us, but as soon as one is able to understand it and be at peace and understand everything throughly you will be ok. Aristotle writes " If this be so the result is that the good man is excessive of this faculties in accordance with excellent or fixture,or ,if there be more than one, in accordance with the best and most complete virtue."(10) this basically means it takes time to understand everything and why it happens. All my life I feel as if all I've done is depend on other people to do things for me like take me places , buy my clothes , help me with getting things I need and honestly I think as I am maturing and graduating high school I need to learn to be more independent and get my own things and to be able to say "hey I'm the reason I have these things. " Good things have been divided into three classes , external goods on one hands, and on the other goods of the soul and goods of the body; and the goods of the would are commonly said to be goods in the fullest sense, and more old than other " Aristotle (15) this quote materialistic things may make us happen but only happiness comes from the soul. This relates to independence because not everyone needs materialistic to be independent or feel independence it's all about knowing your mind body and soul are free. “ you will have to give up some things enteriley and put others for the moment”(2) which means it may be diffuclt be we have to give up certain things in order to live happier and understand fully about
