These fast food places have stopped people from going to the grocery store where they can purchase food that would be beneficial to their body instead of just killing their hunger with high calorie meals. For the price of ten dollars your able to get two double doubles from In n Out (1,340), Chipotle burrito with chips (3,235), ten Taco Bell bean burritos (3,860), and three cheeseburger meals at Wendy's (1,890). One hour of working at minimum wage would be eleven dollars at the start of 2018. A females body requires around 1,600-2,400 calories and a man requires 2,300-2,700 calories today. It’s crazy to see that working less than an hour could get you this high intake of calories. These business know with prices this low it’ll attract a huge audience, but behind the scenes these business are lowering the cost of products that it take to make the item. My experience growing up wasn’t the best, traveling to America at the age of seven and not knowing the language was a huge obstacle to overcome. Weighing in at 115 pounds but this in this country for a year ending up getting me to 135 pounds. You might ask yourselves, how did this happen? How does someone gain twenty pounds in one year? Basically in my first couple of months me and my family ate out a ton. Most of the time it was McDonalds or Pizza Hut because of the low cost. In addition, I didn't have many friends since I was seen as a foreigner from another country, so I resorted to spending my days in my room playing video games. My unhealthy habit made me gain a ton of weight. It wasn’t until I got to high school and discovered my passion for Basketball. This got me back in shape to the figure I desired. Looking at today's generation, it’s also very easy to gain a couple pounds since we’re continuously bombarded with the stress from school work, our peers, and our home life. In the United States obesity has become a huge problem. In the article “Don’t Blame the Eater” by David Zinczenko, he states “Todays number in healthcare costs are 100 Billion”(463). Zinczenko is informing us about the costs of healthcare for obesity related illnesses.
