We cannot possibly eliminate the using of GMOs from our society as many countries rely on the use of GMOs. As seen from the graph below (mother jones), countries from all over the role rely on GMOs in their food industry. If we were to ban all GMOs, economies would crash, governments would have to search for a new way to produce food quickly, and famine would spread throughout the world especially due to the outside world heavily relying on the United States, the highest using GMO country in the world, for food. However, the dependability on GMOs shows a flaw in our society. We can not put all of our eggs into one basket, especially a potential hazardous one. If the world continues to depend on GMOs to save our food industry, we face major repercussions. Due to the heavy reliance, however, we have to find a medium between eliminating GMOs and spreading them. Instead of having 3 out of 4 food contain GMOs, let’s drop that number to 2 out of 4 and later, 1 out of 4 and eventually, we hope to eliminate all GMOs. Nevertheless, the process has to be gradual in that sudden change can dramatically impact our world. The fallout would be compared to that of the stock crash of 1929. It is sad to compare the implications of GMO elimination to that of a economic crash. Yet our world has prioritized the production of food to the fullest and we have had to consolidate in many ways including through the use of genetically modified
