From wide and far our food organic or not on average can travel up to 1500 miles to reach its stopping point on a shelf, to sit, until the day it is bought. (NRDC, 2007) Many from this point on can discuss the differences in taste between the organic fruit vs the regular conventional fruit, yet both fruits have sat along the way field to warehouse to store shelving all at the same time! So, can we say that the organic fruit is ‘fresher’? A box containing ‘natural’ cereal has ingredients not classified as natural and is from many countries containing many different pathogens and transportation to bring that box to a store self. The worldwide food web is a lot more connected than a lot of Americans care to understand, yet conscientious Americans who do care to learn their food web for their health. These studies also help watch the habits of healthy eating, the factors being low or high income and then their average fruits, nuts, vegetables, and grains. Studies have shown a positivity in our nutrients with organic juice drinks fulfilling some diets, yet we are still not having enough whole veggies and fruits. For the overall positive conclusion is that America is getting better with their diet habits throughout the past decade since an increase of publicity on our food sources has been highlighted especially the pricing for organic vs non-organics in groceries and stores alike. We can still fully account the lack of a balance in our economy (wage wise) and the cost of food products processed or not. This ‘healthy eating gap,’ has been widening by the education cost also, the highly educated have more understanding and possibly the resources to reach healthier food than those that are less unfortunate. Largely these unfortunate groups are thought to be the minority of the area, coincidentally studies have shown an opposite climb of observations to this difference of culture and style of food
