Essay On Following Directions

Following directions in the military in certain situations can be life or death, if not followed correctly. Certain jobs like, the infantry or the artillery, following directions is very important and vital for mission success. If one person doesn’t do their part then it could lead to the potential mission failure but a mistake that will be difficult for everyone to bear with the death of a comrade. Infantry for example relies on squad cohesion and total discipline with the task at hand. Training is important for an infantryman. If someone doesn’t take the training serious when its being conducted then the absolute worst can happen because they didn’t follow the directions and take the training seriously enough. This, while a good punishment, is just too time consuming and I can’t stand not being able to play with my kids and instead I’m writing a paper about following directions given to me by my leadership. One would think that small things like this wouldn’t lead to such a big deal but even NCO’s need to corrected when they are in the wrong. I have learned that what I did was a big deal and how the LT handled it is the proper way. Have a private convocation between the two parties and develop a plan of action for correcting the wrong doing. NCO’s have a strict code in which they should abide by. This code is taught to those who get promoted into the NCO ranks and, we as NCO’s try and teach it to the solders before they get promoted hoping that that they have a good grasp of it before they themselves get promoted. One of the earliest ways we can start to do this is by putting a soldier into a leadership position early. With hope that they learn this code and set up rules and principles to follow them at all
