Why School Is Important

Great Essays
School is a place that some people dread, yet some love. This should not be the case at all. Everyone should be able to go to school and be comfortable with the situation and ready to learn. How you feel when you go to school depends on your relationship with the teachers and the other students, as well as your memories in the school. Odds are, when a teacher tries to control your every move, you do not like said teacher. However, there is no efficiency in a classroom that has no discipline or teacher control. Also, if you do not have the rights or privileges that you feel are necessary to help you fully utilize your learning abilities, you will be less likely to apply yourself. There must be flexibility, basic rights and privileges, discipline …show more content…
The kids need to know that they have some freedom, or they are likely to rebel. Some of these rights include the freedom of expression, safety and wellbeing, fair assessment, diversity, and technology. Freedom of expression allows the students to show you their intelligence without taking a test. This shows a more inside look of how the student thinks, and it could help this student in the future. If they know that they are allowed to express themselves, they will be more likely to ask questions. This leads to better grades. Safety and wellbeing is a right that they should all have because they will not want to attend if they do not feel safe. Bullying, shootings, and just fights in general can all make children feel unsafe when attending school. This will also distract their focus. This means that the school’s leaders need to step up and take care of the problem when they have the chance. Also, fair assessment is necessary. If a student is not being evaluated on the same level as the others in your class, then they are less likely to try. They will give up because they know that they will never get as good of a grade as somebody else. Even those with learning disabilities need to be assessed fairly. Diversity is absolutely necessary in the classroom because the world is diverse! The schools should not be based on gender, race, etc. This will cause many problems down the road. If there is no compromise, then there is no way of moving forward. Yes, the teacher is technically in charge, but they need compromise to show that they care about their students. Being able to change due dates, helping them out on a particularly hard question on a test, or even letting them have a free day can all help students learn more. Compromise can even be as simple as rewarding them when they do well on a test. Rewards are good compromises. If the students do particularly well on something, then they get to have class outside for a day, etc. By having compromise, teachers can increase the chance of their students being successful in the classroom. Making accommodations is useful, but these accommodations should both support the differences of the individual students and keep up a demanding academic environment. Some skills are necessary and unable to be compromised on, while some can be changed and worked out to help those who are struggling. The skills that can be compromised are skills that are necessary for the class, but they have more than one way of getting done. Therefore, all skills do not need to be compromised, but there needs to be some options (“How To: Use Accommodations in General-Education

People all around the world have different thoughts on what school is. Some people think that it is just a waste of time and that we shouldn 't have to go if we don 't want to. Others believe that school is one of the best things that has ever happened to them, because if there wasn 't school, how would they get the career that they really want. But to some kids, school scares them. Between racism and bullying, school is very tough on some kids. I definitely understand why kids want to stay home. I recently read three articles about the Myth of Education and Empowerment. The first one was, "College at Risk," by Andrew Delbanco; the second was, "Against School," by John Taylor Gatto; the third one was,…

    Why Start School

Over the past ten years there have been several issues pertaining to why school should start later in the day. Many parents, teachers, and board leaders have tried pushing the issues so that the start time will change, but not a whole lot has happened. There are schools in all fifty states that want to jump on board and start school later, so why not just do it? It’s way easier said than done. The top reason why people don’t want to start school later in the day is because they are already used to the seven or eight AM start time and they claim that they wouldn’t be able to get used to the schedule. Not any time soon, anyways. School should start later in the day so students will be more focused and alert throughout the day.…

The good thing about this schools that I like is will motivate the students and tell them what exactly what to do also the teacher would help and see what every student is doing but the only thing is that the teacher do not gives any ideas to students when a students are not sure about an answer for a question. Also the teacher does not have the control of the classroom when students get noisy or get up from their desk. Some students are noisy and annoying and it’s very hard for a person to deal with so many students at the same time when they are noisy. I remember back in the days in high school some of the student were noisy and annoying or just throwing papers and it was hard for a teacher to take the control of the class. She just called the securities from the school to take them out the class. I think the teachers are right at that point because it’s hard to take control of a classroom when almost all the students are just being noisy and getting up of their desk. The teacher should give tell those students they are getting bad grades for being annoying or take them out the class. At this point I don’t see it like the teacher is wrong, the students are. I heard some teachers hit the students or sometimes just because a student its being noisy the whole classroom have to pay for it too and it shouldn’t be like that. School can make that better being strict with…

Contrast that to students now, who hate school and everything that comes with it. Schools just aren’t a positive environment for students. With teachers that often resent their jobs, and peers that are miserable, combined with high pressure to memorize every fact and meet strict deadlines, eventually, even the most dedicated students will start to feel the same. Everything feels menial and boring and as a result the natural need for knowledge that we all possess is suffocated. School becomes a chore, something that gets in the way of living. Not only does standardized education damage people as students, but also as people. People who are eventually unprepared to face the real world. People who don’t know how to handle stress. People who don’t know how to deal with other people. And soon we see a society like ours, full of people doing only what others expect, and full of people who lack meaning and…

High school is the important time to integrate and deepen the knowledge, and to get ready to enter a college, start a career, or other opportunities in society. Gaining academic intelligence in different subjects and areas is necessary before entering post-high school life, and homework may help students to gain academic intelligence. However, high school students today are very busy, spending most of the time in school every day, extracurricular activities, and other things. Since high students are in school for a long time daily, they should focus on academic learning during the school session instead of spending time doing homework after school. Homework for high school students isn’t necessary because it can be a waste of time.…

Kids should not have the tension of having school every day of their lives. Many would agree that school is important, including myself. However, just because it’s important doesn’t mean it’s always pleasant for the students (or teachers, apparently.) In fact, sometimes, besides school being an unpleasant experience, it can ultimately end up being a big waste of time. Not just for the student, or even the teacher, but everyone that attended a school that didn’t care about their students.…

I love school and I love going there I just hate the fact it starts at 7:40am. I should be in bed! We have lunch the time I would be laying on the couch eating breakfast. I like how sometimes all the classes are chill and lay back and you can work on some work you need to catch up on. But, no one likes it when you learn something new and you're so confused but no one will help you understand. It’s like everyone has a map through the maze except for you.Although mazes will be confusing with a map or without it they have a visual and I don’t.…

Going to school is important because it is a very essential way of getting your education, learning about life and most importantly knowing what kind of future you want to have put on your plate. But not only that, school teaches you individual skills to use in the future like communication skills and so on. If all of these come into play, you will have a very successful life set out right ahead of you and you’ll easily overcome any obstacle put in front of you. Unfortunately, this type of motivation doesn’t always work for everyone and sometimes they don’t even ever come to school. These type of people are most likely going to fail in their future and never achieve anything in life, thankfully I’m…

The article “College is not a commodity. Stop treating it like one.”[1] talks about how a person cannot buy an education as if they would buy a car or a house, which causes me to ask, how much of an education can someone actually receive, from a financial standpoint. From kindergarten to the graduation of high school might seem free, but in reality it isn 't, colleges just don 't bother hiding it. A majority of the people in the U.S do not possess higher educational degrees. I contest why a majority people lack degrees is the cause of, not an educational problem but, a financial one. Banks offer student loans that, consequently, are extremely expensive, there aren…

Most kids do not think school is enjoyable but they probably never went to a school that teaches so many important things and or had a teacher that made school interesting, diverse, fun and very interactive. Regular school was really hard for me and I was always happy to have a teacher who did things differently and it didn't have to be a huge, long and hard project just to be good. We can learn hard things but not always in a hard way. I am glad for the teachers in all the schools I went to that knew making things different was ok because I still…

To be honest, I hate school with a passion, yet I love learning as much as living. As a child, schooling created a feeling of loneliness and sadness that echoed throughout my life, even now. I didn’t meet the standard levels for literacy and was separated from my classmates in elementary school for special reading and writing classes. Also the lack of freedom to say and move the way I wished to, and the rebellion that stemmed out of me in middle school due to these limitations. Finally, the conforming in high school to appease my mother, friends that drove me over the edge, yet even now I feel the same bull-crap in college. As a human, I believed school was meant to develop a strong individual, human, but now I know it is meant to break you…

The value of education is important to some individuals, but not to everyone. Some people might think education is not important, or they think it’s a waste of time, but I think differently. Education is important to me mainly because it can determine what my future holds. It’s also important because it can teach me everything I will need to know to be prepared. Without a diploma, I won’t be able to get a decent job. Education will prepare me for the future, and the highest education level I accomplish will make me more successful in life. I didn’t always understand this, but I do now.…
