Marxist/Socialist feminism refers to the belief that the gendered division of labour is a direct reinforcement of women’s oppression in society. Furthermore, they point out that men are still getting paid higher wages than women and that they have historically dominated managerial positions. Furthermore, gender and class are the main reasons for a women’s oppression in society (Hennessy and Ingraham, 1997).

The fact that academic knowledge itself is gendered and knowledge consists of man’s contribution to the world. While learning at University it is noticeable that academic knowledge is gendered as history has largely been dominated by men as well as the sciences and mathematics. Many studies are limited because they do not have a women’s of feminist perspective. Furthermore, when we are learning about women’s contributions to society they are categorised as women’s studies and Feminist studies, when men have dominated and still continue to do so in every field of academia knowledge.
