Fantasy In Greek Mythology

Almost everyone knows what Greek mythology is. If a stranger approached someone on the street and asked if Greek mythology are fantasy stories, almost every single person would say that they are. Greek mythology was one of the first fantasy stories in the world. Fantasy has been around forever, there is no specific place it has started. Even though they have been around forever, most people cannot tell what the definition of fantasy is. From Greek mythology to modern fantasy, they all have different criteria to separate them from other genres, such as science fiction. Nym has help from her trainer who has the ability to get rid of her powers for a few minutes. Storm Siren consists of elemental powers, a wolf wizard, and other monsters. These all fit into the category of mythical objects.In the book Emperor’s Blades (2014), Kaden is trying to master an ancient power. While his brother, Valyn is flying into battle on the backs of giant black hawks. Ancient powers and giant hawks are not real items, so they are definitely mythical objects. In the book Way of Kings (2010), there are monsters called Voidbringers which are supposedly made of rock and fire and stand dozen of feet tall. There are and will never be anything that can move and is made out of inanimate objects, such as fire and rock. Therefore, Way of Kings fits the criteria. Also in the book Prince of Fools (2014), there is an undead army that is going to attack the kingdom. The undead, sometimes referred as zombies, cannot happen. The dead will not come back to life, proving that this is a mythical creature. The mythical objects within a fantasy book help the reader develop a wild imagination. For example, the book Throne of Glass (2012), has places that do not exist in real life. Instead, the author has made them up. Some of these places are Endovier, Oakwald Forest, and Fae. These places in the book are not actually real, so it could seem like the author was talking about another world. In other words, the setting of this book is otherworldly. In the book Prince of Fools (2014), the main place is called the Broken Empire. The Broken Empire was designed by the author and not an actual place in our world. Since the Broken Empire is not an actual place in our world, it too can be considered not otherworldly. Especially if the place is filled with monsters and other myths, this place would have to be in another world. Otherworldly settings are also seen in the book Storm Siren (2014). The main kingdom is called the Faelen Kingdom, which has never existed, meaning the author had made it up. Then in the book The Emperor’s Blades (2014), it has an empire that was never existent before called the Annurian Empire. This is considered to be otherworldly since this place is not real on earth. This is important to create new lands so the reader is not just picturing the story happen on earth, which might not make it seem that interesting.
