In the book The Bean Trees the characters experience difficult family situations, but also have more than one family. One main character that had a difficult family situation and more than one family was Taylor. Taylor lived in Kentucky with her mom, while her dad was nowhere to be found. Taylor grew up with a supporting, caring and loving family. Taylor’s family in Kentucky was supportive because when Taylor wanted to flee her mother helped her learn how to take care of her car and helped her get ready to leave. Also, her family didn’t shame her or drag her down and didn’t tell her that she couldn’t leave. Taylor’s family in Kentucky later became distant because Taylor was able to flee the small town in Kentucky. Another family that Taylor
