Family centres really help out different varieties of families and build a partnership with parents, for example foreign families or single parents. They support them and build a relationship with the parents involved in the child’s life. Communication is a main barrier for family centres and their children. However this has improved a vast amount during the years by providing translators or having welcome packs in different languages. Hewison (2004) suggested that language was an issue of power and how it is manipulated in organisations. Organisations could be examined in terms of what the common language, symbols displayed and rituals performed actually means. This also focuses on outcomes for children, which is the purpose of children centres. This clarifies the duty to secure enough children’s centres accessible to all families with children, the greater involvement of organisations in the running of children’s centres with a track record of supporting families which are in more of need than other families. Sharing the right information could ensure that the individual receives the right services at the right time and helps to prevent a need from becoming more acute and difficult to meet. Information shared from parents and carers should be between the organisations. Practitioners should also use their judgement wisely when making their decision on what information they should be sharing and when this should also be followed through for the organisations procedure or consult with someone higher if in doubt. However, the information shared about a child should be kept to subject according to The Data Protection Act 1998, which requires you to consider the impact of how much information you should be revealing on the subject and any third parties. Information should also be accurate and up to date it should also be clearly distinguish between fact and opinion, any historical information should be explained to why it has not been brought up at the time. Any information shared must also be equivalent to the needs and levels of risk which will be carried out. The only information that is relevant to the purposes should be shared with those who need it. For example, the organisations (police, social worker etc.).
