Reflective Essay: What Is A Color-Coded Planner?

Improved Essays
As the yellow morning light fills the room, I sit at my desk on this Sunday. I take that first sip of dark roast, vanilla flavored coffee. My bed is made, with matching throw pillows perfectly places. My color-coded planner is sitting on top of my organized desk. I open my planner to this Sunday and check off my morning workout on my daily “to-do” list. Then all of a sudden it hits me harder than a bug crashing against the windshield of a car zooming down the interstate. I understand that I am a 20-year-old female with the mental capacity of a middle-aged woman with 3 kids, 2 dogs, and a successful bakery. I also understand that may not be everyone's mentality, but is it too much to ask for people to keep track of themselves? Is it too much to ask everyone to be accountable for what’s going on in their own life? You can not keep your Friday work meeting, Wednesday oil change, and Tuesday teeth cleaning in your head and expect yourself to be on time or to even show up. Talking to someone who does not have a …show more content…
To function as a society and as a whole we have to take care of ourselves first! It's like that whole airplane motto they use when talking about what to do in case of an emergency while the plane is in the air, "you cannot help someone else if you're unconscious, so help yourself first." Take that motto and apply it to anything and life and wouldn't you know, it makes sense! It's not rocket science to take a pen and paper and plan your life, especially when you have the authority to make someone else plan and execute their job! Planning is a basic life skill that is easy to learn and even easier to achieve. I'm not asking for everyone to color code their life and place stickers on holidays to enhance the aesthetic of their planner. I'm just asking for everyone to have at least those black leather-like agendas and a ball point pen, that will surely get the job

He or she must indulge in all aspects of life, and unquestionably look beyond what is only apparent of him or her. Many people make the mistake of simply focusing on their own lives, while neglecting the reality that boisterously roars around them. Being locked in one’s own mind is a dangerous catastrophe.…

The term “goofing off” is a complicated term for something so simple. Goofing off is simply enjoying your time with your friends without the everyday worries of life. Not to mention, to goof off with your friends you just simply forget about the world around you; the surroundings disappear, people become non-existent, and you are left with your friends and yourself. The atmosphere is relaxed, you can hear the musical notes of laughter, a chorus of voices just a murmur overhead, but at the moment you feel like nothing else matters but this moment. Moreover, the types of things you can do to goof off are endless; you can play video games, go shopping, or even play truth or dare.…

Imagine living in a fantasy world where everything is pitch perfect the way you wanted to be, but then, you wake up to the harsh reality to feel trapped and animated on the inside. This is how I first view my life story for the last three years. At first, I never thought this class would help me realize who I am nor what I have to value until eight weeks ago. As I reflect on my personal life I value life itself to the point I live each day not knowing what to expect the next day. Positivity is a major factor in all that I do to the point of trying to view all things in a positive way and leaving the negativity out the door. As a mother, partner, educator, and entrepreneur I strive to be mindful, spiritual, and conscious of all my actions. I value these things because this is what makes up my life and what I live for each day. My life is a fourth generation person and I relate because I “want to live, love, learn, and leave it like a seed with balance and joy" (Covey, 73) the quality of my life is more important than planning it out.…
