The topic that I selected is increasing the evidence based practice use. Evidence based practice (EBP) is one of the popular topics in nursing today. It is defined as a “problem-solving approach to clinical decision making within a healthcare organization that integrates the best available scientific evidence with the best available experiential evidence” (Hain & Kear, 2015, p. 2). Applying evidence based practice into our daily nursing practice can improve the quality of care of the patients. Likewise, it is a way of providing a high quality of care to patients that enhances the patients’ outcomes. Many nurses including myself support EBS because of the factual evidence and studies that shows improvement of delivery of patient care and patient’s outcome. Hain & Kear (2015), healthcare professionals including nurses have increasingly using evidence- based practice as a way to improve patient experience of care, plummeting per capita costs of healthcare, and improving the health of populations.
My everyday practice in nursing is influenced by what I learned from school, books, colleagues, previous experiences and research. Nursing today is mostly based on evidenced-based practice that is derived from previous research studies. As a nursing professional, I will follow and do what is right and the best interest of my patients.
