Evidence based clinical practice guidelines are defined as a compilation of statements developed to guide clinical decision making by heath care providers regarding best practices for positive patient outcomes (Baddour & Saleh, 2013). Implementation of evidence based practice allows the nurse practitioner to make clinical decisions to guide care for patients based on research. The guidelines are established after extensive research studies determine the methods of care which produce the most positive outcome for the patient.
