After a semester of learning about email etiquette, the job application process, designing PowerPoints, and research methods, I knew I had a lot to choose from. I wanted to make sure I chose, in my eyes, the two best documents I turned in. The two documents I have selected to revise for this portfolio are the email package from unit one and my job application from the document redesign portion in unit three. How does a work requirement improve access to treatment? How can an individual that’s suffering from addiction access treatment to fulfill their work requirement if they’re not allowed to get Medicaid and can’t have that to cover such a treatment? Can you explain how we would address this circular situation where someone doesn’t have coverage, so they can’t get treatment, but they can’t fulfill the work requirement because they need to be in treatment to do that? • Brandt: As part of our issuance last week, states are required to take steps to ensure access to appropriate treatments and services. One of the things they are supposed to do is make reasonable modifications to ensure that people receiving treatment for substance use disorders or opioid treatments are able to have reasonable accommodations.…

The large pharmaceutical companies spend money to market their expensive drugs that they want consumers to purchase. They decide which medications will be marked directly to you. It is difficult to decide where the rights of one citizen stop, and the rights of all other citizens begin. In the case of Mary Mallon, health care officials placed the greater good of the population above the rights of an individual, for the right reasons. However, officials at the New York City Health Department went about it in the wrong way. I do not think Mary should have been kept in isolation for the rest of her life. However, I do believe she was given a fair chance at a normal life when she was told to stop cooking.…
