Assignment 2: What Makes A Good Ethical Program

This simple but true verse “Treat others the same way you want them to treat you” is the basis for all ethical behavior and programs Luke 6:31 (Dake’s Annontated Reference Bible). This simple verse can be found in many religions even though they have ported it is little differently. This verse is the foundation for all ethical issues that we face because if we do not want something done to us we should not do it to others. As Christians, we know right from wrong and treating people badly or conducting business in a manner that will hurt others is on ethical. This paper will elaborate on what makes a good ethical program, its goals, what to essential elements are needed, and how Entergy can improve their ethical program.

It is important to have a code of ethics because it clearly states an organizations values and expectations of its employees. This helps give the employees a guideline for how to behave and what is expected of them. With any program, you must provide adequate training and this is essential for any ethical program is to be successful. It is also necessary to hold people accountable for their actions and to communicate clearly with employees on what will happen if they violate the organization’s ethical. Organizations also need an auditing system to monitor departments and their behavior. They also must have an ethical line that employees can contact if they see are believes unethical behaviors are happening and it is essential that they can do it anonymously so there is no questions for reporting unethical behavior. Companies should reward employees for doing the right thing and encouraging them to practice good ethical …show more content…
It is necessary that all organizations comply with governmental laws in regards to ethical compliance and behavior. These laws should be the minimum for any organizations ethical policies. Organizations need to go beyond the law and be proactive when developing their organizational culture and policies. It is essential for all organizations to be proactive when coming up with an effective ethics program. The organization needs to make sure that people are actively practicing the organizations ethical culture and values. It is important for an organization to have someone to oversee employee’s ethical behavior and enforce them to practice it in their daily business activities.
