The Importance Of Ending Homelessness

Decent Essays
Mark Twain once said “the two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why” (Twain, ND). I found out why when I was 19, pregnant and homeless living on the streets of New York City. I knew I had a purposed and that there had to be something more to life than the cards I was given. I believe change starts with one and that is why I decided that it will be my life’s mission to help end homelessness and be a service to other people. I have dedicated over 3000 hours to the service of others and it will not stop until every person has a place to sleep. It takes one person to start a ripple, but when ripples join forces it when true change can occur. People joining forces are the reason social change occurs.

I would spend my one million dollars in three very distinct and controversial ways. I would portion the money out to be donated to three different causes. My number one cause is factory jobs going to other countries, which is going to receive six hundred thousand. Second, homelessness would be nonexistent due to people having more jobs and my donation of three hundred thousand. Lastly, the income gap between the rich and poor would be substantially lower and the middle class population would increase dramatically due to more job opportunities in the United States of America and the final donation of my million dollars of one thousand dollars.…
